What to ask when you ring

The rate, per foot and per month — and whether they measure your boat or your registration.
A 24-foot boat with a bracket and a swim platform can bill as 27 feet.
What is not in the rate.
Power, pump-out, launch fees, winterisation and haul-out are often separate.
For a rack: how much notice to splash, and the cut-off on a Saturday.
The whole point of dry stack is that they put it in the water for you. If the last call is 3pm on a Saturday, that is your day.
For a slip: floating or fixed, and the controlling depth at low water.
A fixed dock on a four-foot tide is a different boat-handling problem, and a slip that dries out is not a slip.
Whether there is a waiting list, and how long.
The good racks on this stretch run waiting lists measured in years.
What happens when a hurricane is named.
Ask before you sign. Some yards haul everything, some require you to move it, some do nothing.

Controlling depth at the slip at MLLW. Charted depth is not slip depth, and no marina publishes it.
Shore power amperage per dock, and floating versus fixed for every marina but Morehead City Yacht Basin.
Whether an inland self-storage yard takes boats at all — the ten candidates below need a phone call each.
